It’s about time I get back on my own DIY 2012 wagon. It’s May 5th already!
So yesterday little Bunsies and I made Duke pumpkin dog biscuits. I told him we were making something extra-special for him.
Settle down, Duke. No need to exert so much energy.
I used a recipe I found over at Simmer Till Done. Apparently pumpkin soothes doggie tummy issues and since Duke has eaten our grass lately (why dog, why) and throwing it up a few hours later (why dog, why), I decided it was time I got a little pumpkin in his belly. Brown rice flour is used because many dogs don’t tolerate wheat? Who knew? Probably people know–I’m just out of the loop.
Get a little helper with Unbrushed Wild Friday Hair to help ya.
Mix up the ingredients and then roll out the dough. Use cookie cutters to cut out the biscuits. I didn’t have a dog bone so we used this dog cutter. Or wolf?
Bake for 20 minutes, flip over and bake for another 20 minutes. Voila! Pumpkin dog biscuits. They smelled like pumpkin and parsley. Probably because there’s pumpkin and parsley in them. 🙂
The test: Will Duke eat them? I once found him standing at the kitchen counter eating sugar cookies off the cooling rack. I suspected he would eat these, too.
I’ll just take this over to the rug mom vacuumed an hour ago and enjoy my biscuit in peace.
DIY success!
(Recipe used: From Simmer Till Done–Thanks!)

🙂 Thanks, Rai!
LOL. This was so cute! I loved his excitement in his first photo. HAHA
HAHA, thanks Shells!
I am impressed. Annalise is learning early.
I didn’t know that about dogs and wheat. Huh. Next time I make doggie biscuits, I’ll give these a shot. Thanks!
No prob, PPID! 😉 Duke seems to still be loving them.
How do you store your treats and how long do you think they’ll be good?
Hi Catherine! I simply put them in a tupperware type container and, eek, he ate them for weeks. With no ill side effects. So I’d say a few weeks to be on the safe side?
How did I miss this post months ago!!?? Sweet Duke deserves homemade treats!! And your little helper… waaaaaaay too cute with the friday hair!
🙂 He sure loves these treats! Friday Hair has been happening a lot around here this summer…I be you’d Friday Hair with us!
