Bzzzzzy Bees

I can’t stop making cake pops.   And I don’t wanna.

They’re too fun.  And after my recent popping session with Sandi, I’m on a cake pop high.

Sweet munchkin requested that we make the chick cake pops for her preschool class Easter treat for tomorrow.  My first reaction was, “Yea!  Totally sister!”  3 seconds later I had a flashback to her birthday.

After making cake pops for her birthday class treat, I woke at the crack of dawn and tiptoed downstairs to stare at the cute things.   Upon entering the kitchen, tears began to fall.  Then audible crying occurred.   Gasping for breath kind of crying.  Those pops had been too heavy–I made them LARGE.  I like my portions large and I like my cake pops large.  And now I better start liking my buns large–I’d given them zero chance of survival.  During the night they’d toppled right off their sticks and plunged to their death.  wah.

The pressure!  But I told myself I’d make cupcakes 1st thing tomorrow morning if  I woke to a pop massacre.  We made chicks and bees in honor of spring.

My sister-in-law Jen stopped by and stayed for hours making pops with me.  What a testament to cake pops:  she is a hyperactive thing and I didn’t think she could handle the monotony of dipping and decorating.  Oh, how wrong I was.  She was sucked into the cake pop realm and only managed to escape after she’d graced each pop with wings or a beak.  She left on a caffeinated sugar high (iced coffee slurping, frosting intake, & cake pop consumption will do that to you).  I hope you fall asleep before 4am, Jen!

I just love these happy bees.

Shaping the bees got the wheels turning and I’m planning on another pop session next week.  Oh Bakerella, your imagination makes my imagination jealous.  But at least my imagination is attempting creativity.  That oughtta count for something!

Bzzzz.

  3. Those are too cute! Love love!

  4. Esther Peckham says:

Love both the bees and chicks. Caitlin and I made all the cake pops for her bridal shower. It was so much fun, trial, and errors as well. Want to make some with you someday. I am free most mornings. Call me when you are making them next time. Love and miss you!

  5. I baked 60 brownies for Tyler’s class for his birthday one year. As I was opening the door at school the handle of my tray broke. I stood over them and cried. Jeanne and Sharon were so sweet trying to console me! Anyway, adorable cake pops! Happy Spring!

    • Ohh! 😦 But I laughed picturing you at that door. Only because it is so awkward to get through there with something in your hands. Thanks and happy spring to you and the kiddos as well!

  6. SO. DARN. CUTE.
Please keep making cake pops, because I love seeing what you create. 🙂

  7. these are too cute!!!

  9. Oh my, you are making me drool over here! I have only had the coffee shop ones and while I am not against sampling batter every now and then, those make me feel sick like I indulged in a whole bowl! The flavor is yummy and I can taste the potential!

Yours look so cute and delicious that I think I am addicted just by looking at them! Look at your creativity in action! They look amazing!

    • Thank you, Abby! I almost brought you some, but was afraid the texture would make you puke. So I’m going to give you some from a different patch of cakier ones…I remember the smooshy convo we had 🙂 xx

  10. superhappy – never made these but now I MUST! Your enthusiasm is contagious and they are adorable to boot!

    • Thanks, Tammy! I think you need to make them, too–maybe farm animals! Cute little lambs and ducks? They’re so much fun and it’s a bit cathartic, too…dip, dip, decorate…..dip, dip….. 🙂 Cake popping catharsis.
